Morton is a city in Cochran County, Texas, United States. It is located in the south-western part of the state, close to the New Mexico border. Morton is situated approximately 100 miles southeast of Lubbock and 70 miles west of the city of Lamesa. It is a small town with a population of around 2,000 people and is known for its agricultural industry, particularly in cotton and peanuts. The town was named after a former Secretary of Agriculture, Julius Sterling Morton.
